Gillman Honda San Benito Welcomes the 2019 Honda Fit

What do you do when a sedan seems too cramped and conventional, but an SUV seems just a bit too big? You go for the 2019 Honda Fit, the “just right” hatchback even Goldilocks would love. It’s finally in stock at Gillman Honda San Benito, and for such a small car, it packs some very big features.

You’re not going to find much that’s different this year from last year’s model. That’s because the 2018 model brought the car into a new generation with a complete redesign. So if you’re deciding between both model years, you should know that the powertrain and much of the technology (with one exception that we’ll explain below) carries over.

Truth be told, there’s plenty we’re glad they didn’t change. Consider the Magic Seats, which fold flat to make even better use of the already-expansive cargo area. Thanks to a bit of intelligent design (they squeezed the gas tank under the front seats), the Honda Fit offers cargo space that rivals a small SUV, but minus the bulk.

The one change this year comes to the car’s safety systems and underscores why you should look at the upper trim levels. The base LX trim and the Sport trim are both highly capable, but only the EX and EX-L trims can be outfitted with Honda Sensing driver assist features. That suite just got a little bigger and better, thanks to the addition of automatic high beams this year.

So if you’re comparing both model years of these new Honda cars, which model should you buy? Even though they’re alike in many ways, the newer model will hold its resale value longer. But if you’re on the fence, the best way to make up your mind is to visit 1801 Industrial Way and take a test drive here at Gillman Honda San Benito.
