2019 Honda Insight Arrives at Gillman Honda San Benito

What’s in a name? For the Honda brand, the 2019 Honda Insight calls back to an earlier car that carried the same name. However, unlike the new Honda Ridgeline (which had a lot in common with its predecessor), this is an all-new Honda car. It’s just arrived at the Gillman Honda San Benito showroom, and we’re eager to show it off.

Unlike some of its competitors, the 2019 Honda Insight doesn’t call attention to its hybrid pedigree. At a glance, it could be mistaken for a mildly-disguised Honda Civic, but in terms of its amenities and features, it’s actually meant to fit between that model and the Honda Accord in the new Honda lineup.

The powertrain sets this car apart, too. In a segment that tends to be a bit underpowered, the Honda Insight instead comes equipped with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and an electric motor, which between them are good for 197 lb.-ft. of torque and 151 horsepower (net). Because the electric motor, and not the engine, powers the vehicle, there’s no need for a transmission.

The interior is a bit more luxurious than the Honda Civic. Its tasteful design and materials aren’t the only draw, however; we particularly like the dual digital displays. One of these takes the place of the traditional instrument cluster, and the other features an eight-inch screen for the infotainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

Safety features include the Honda Sensing™ driver-assist suite with forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking system, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control standard. Step up in the trim levels and you’ll be able to opt in the LaneWatch system, which adds rearview and mirror-mounted cameras for even better visibility.

Excited yet? We sure are! If you live anywhere between San Benito and Brownsville and you want a hybrid car that looks normal but is miles from ordinary, visit Gillman Honda San Benito at 1801 Industrial Way to find out more.
