Choosing a Safe Car for Teen Drivers

Here at Gillman Honda San Benito, we want all of our customers to be well informed before making a vehicle purchase. Safety is of the utmost importance. This is especially true when selecting a vehicle for a teenage driver.

A good first step in selecting a new vehicle for your teen is to check safety ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety does crash-test ratings in a number of different categories. Another good organization to check out is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They give vehicles an overall safety rating of between zero to five stars.

When it comes to safety, bigger is often better. Larger vehicles such as SUVs tend to fair better in crash tests. It's also a good idea to avoid cars that offer massive horsepower. For more information, or to take a car out for a test drive, simply pay us a visit at San Benito.
