2020 Honda Pilot: Improved but Reassuringly Familiar

After last year's redesign, the 2020 Honda Pilot arrives at Gillman Honda San Benito wanting for nothing - but getting some small improvements anyway. Our favorite three-row SUV now has just a bit more to offer Brownsville SUV shoppers and their families.

2020 Honda Pilot Details

Most key specifications on this year's Honda Pilot are identical to what we saw last year. The biggest change comes to the trim levels, bringing a new option to the top of the hierarchy. It's called the Black Edition, which we've seen in previous years' Honda Ridgeline. As with the truck, it's based on the Elite trim. It replaces chrome accents with blacked-out trim, and inside there's black upholstery set off by oxblood red seating inserts and piping.

The powertrain is the same as before, pairing a 280 horsepower engine to a choice of either a six-speed automatic transmission in the lower trim levels, or a nine-speed automatic in the upper reaches. AWD is optional, and cargo space more than adequate (the latter rounded out by in-floor storage and perfectly complemented by an optional hands-free liftgate).

2020 Honda Pilot Special Features

The safety features on offer as part of the Honda Sensing® Safety Suite are cutting edge. Better still, they're also available across all trim levels. Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ are standard, too, and they look even better on the optional upgraded infotainment system that also includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Other features make this a uniquely family-friendly choice among new Honda SUVs. CabinTalk pipes the driver's voice through passengers' headsets and the sound system's speakers, ensuring you can always be heard without straining. And the CabinControl app lets passengers access the infotainment system through their smart devices.

Buying a 2020 Honda Pilot

If you're looking for the perfect three-row SUV, the 2020 Honda Pilot just might be it. If, on the other hand, you like the Honda Pilot but don't need the third row, check out the very similar Honda Passport. You'll find them both when you visit Gillman Honda San Benito at 1801 Industrial Way, conveniently close to Brownsville and Harlingen, TX.
