The Honda Civic that debuted last year is more than just the tenth generation of the solid, reliable and fun to drive sedan that helped carve a name for our preferred automaker in the American market. It’s also the fulfillment of a promise Honda made to offer a sedan, hatchback, coupe, Si, and Type R model in the U.S. market by 2017.
Now, after the debut of the prototype earlier this year, the five-door Civic hatchback is here, and its drawing some envious looks. Styled to be sportier than its sedan sibling, the hatchback is differentiated by its rear door, unique mesh on the front and rear bumper, and blacked-out chrome grille on some trims. It also offers turbo power across the board: 174 horses on lower trims, with higher and sport models getting a 180 horsepower mill.
